Your Travel Guide

You’re not just coming to a wedding. You’re coming to Puerto Vallarta.

This trip is equal parts celebration, sunshine, tacos, ocean air, and a little main-character energy.

The Area

We’re staying outside the busiest downtown zones, which means calmer beaches, resort views, and more of that relaxed coastal escape feeling. You’ll still have easy access to town whenever you want more energy.

Zona Romántica
Cobblestone streets, cafés, galleries, boutiques, nightlife, and some of the best people-watching in Mexico. It’s colorful, lively, and very walkable.

The Malecón
The oceanfront boardwalk is lined with sculptures, street performers, vendors, and sunset views. Perfect for an evening stroll when the air cools down and the city starts to glow.

Fun Things To Do

Los Muertos Beach
Music, beach clubs, vendors, and prime people-watching energy.

Resort Beaches
Quieter, cleaner, and perfect for laying out, reading, napping, and pretending you don’t have emails.

Street Tacos in Zona Romántica
Small stands, big flavor. This is not the time to be shy.

Dinner with a View
Oceanfront restaurants along the coast are perfect for a dress-up night. Think sunset, mezcal cocktail, dramatic skies.

Rooftop Cocktails
Head into town for a rooftop bar. Views of the city and ocean at golden hour are elite vacation moments.

Boat Day or Snorkeling Tour
Blue water, hidden beaches, music, and that “we’re on a boat” energy.

Day Trip to Sayulita
A colorful surf town with art shops, beach bars, and laid-back vibes. Great for wandering and photos.

Water Taxi to Yelapa
No roads in, just boats. Jungle-meets-beach village energy. Swim, explore, unplug.

Sunset Walk on the Malecón
Street performers, ocean breeze, glowing sky. It’s a whole moment.

Getting Around Puerto Vallarta

Airport to Resort
Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport is the main airport serving Puerto Vallarta. After exiting, you’ll cross a pedestrian bridge to reach ride-share pickup zones. Taxis and pre-arranged transfers are also available.

Uber and Rideshares
Uber operates in Puerto Vallarta and is often the easiest option for trips between the resort and town. Pricing is generally affordable compared to major U.S. cities. Pickup points in busy areas may require a short walk.

Walkability
Zona Romántica and the Malecón area are very walkable, but streets can be cobblestoned and uneven. Comfortable shoes are your friend.

Taxis
City taxis are widely available. Many do not use meters, so it’s normal to confirm the price before starting your ride. Hotel staff can help estimate fair rates.

Water Taxis
Small boats connect certain beaches and villages that are not accessible by road, including Yelapa. These are part of the adventure and offer beautiful coastal views.

LGBTQ+ Friendly Spots

Puerto Vallarta is one of the most LGBTQ+ welcoming destinations in Mexico, and the community presence is especially strong in Zona Romántica. The overall vibe is relaxed, celebratory, and inclusive. Be yourself. This city makes space for it.

Los Muertos Beach is known for its inclusive, social atmosphere. Several beach clubs in this area are LGBTQ+ friendly and great for a lively daytime scene.

Zona Romántica has a high concentration of LGBTQ+ bars and clubs within walking distance of each other. Expect drag shows, dancing, themed parties, and open, friendly crowds.

Many restaurants and cafés in Zona Romántica are openly welcoming and LGBTQ+ owned or frequented. It’s a comfortable place to explore without feeling out of place.

Practical Tips

Money
Mexico uses the Mexican Peso, but most places take cards. Keep small cash for taxis, tips, and street food.

Water
At the resort you’re good. Outside the resort, stick to bottled water.

Sun
The sun is strong. Reapply sunscreen like it’s your job.

Getting Around
Uber and taxis are easy and affordable. Most trips into town are quick.

What to Wear
Breathable clothes, comfy walking shoes, sandals, and at least one outfit that says “I go on vacations.”
